ABOUT
My Name is Kakaga Saguintaah, I am born in TOGO, Africa on April 22, 1978. Before my steps in America Land, I got my high school diploma from Lycée Kara and furthered my education in English and Spanish at the University of Kara. At the same time, I was a kindergarten teacher. But student statut allowed me to join UNESCO University clubs in Togo. Since its goal is education and culture, I did a variety of artistic performances which lead me to received an Award In 2007. That award woke me up about the art skills that I usually do not consider. Once in America, I wanted to perform art, but I was lost in many ways because I did not know where to begin and my host did not know anything about schools. Also, my personal life was so hard that it took me time to understand my new world. Finally, it took me 8 years to figure out about my studies.. I was going from place to place for a better life until I got to Iowa City. By chance, Kpace program at Kirkwood Community College allowed me to do a certification in Administration Assistant field, and from there, I decided to further my education in Business Administration and Management. In 2016, I had mental health issues that altered my memory. I finally had my Associate in Liberal Art at Kirkwood Community College in May 2020. But I remember that when I was going through my mental issues, art was what revived me. That is why I decided to reconsider the arts. I was here to rediscover arts and I was surprised to find a Design program that fits with my inside appeal, which is manipulating objects to create some things, something that I use to do when I was a teenager.
Today, even thought I am affected mentally, I am happy to see myself at this stage of my life because I have tried my best refusing to limit myself to the person who is going through PTSD, General Depression disorder and other mental issues. On top of that being a single mom makes things harder but I won't give up my dreams.
As a 3D design BFA student at University of Iowa, I am pleased to share my academic works on this platform.
